George W. Bush Welcomes New Grandson Edward Finn, Honoring Family Tradition and Celebrating Generational Ties

Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, have announced a joyful addition to their family: their daughter Barbara Pierce Bush and her husband, Craig Coyne, recently welcomed a baby boy named Edward Finn Coyne. The 78-year-old former president took to social media to share the news, congratulating his daughter and son-in-law while celebrating the legacy that Edward’s name honors.

Barbara and Craig’s new arrival, born on August 4, joins his older sister, two-year-old Cora Georgia, expanding the family in a touching way. The couple posted a heartwarming photo from the hospital, showing themselves holding their newborn with beaming smiles, while Bush’s caption highlighted the pride and joy the family feels: “Our newest blessing, Edward Finn Coyne, named in honor of his great-grandfathers, brings @laurawbush and me immense pride as grandparents once again. Congratulations to Barbara, Craig, and big sister Cora Georgia!”

The name Edward Finn carries significance for the Bush family, paying tribute to both sides of the family’s heritage and legacy. Barbara’s twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager, was the first to share the happy news with her followers on August 5. As co-anchor of the Today show, Jenna expressed her own joy at becoming an aunt again, posting tender photos with her nephew and writing, “My sister had a little mister, and I fell instantly in love with Edward Finn!” Her post featured endearing images of herself cuddling with the baby, as well as a sweet shot of Barbara holding him.

Although Jenna provided few details about the birth, Today.com noted that baby Edward sported an NYU Langone Health cap, suggesting Barbara may have given birth at the well-known New York hospital. Edward’s arrival comes just two years after the Bush family welcomed Cora, with George W. Bush and Laura sharing their excitement then as they embraced grandparenthood. This newest addition brings even more joy, adding to the legacy of the Bush family.

As George and Laura Bush continue to enjoy their roles as grandparents, they cherish each new milestone, welcoming Edward Finn with open arms and celebrating the continuity of their family’s story.
