NEIGHBOR ASKS WOMAN TO REMOVE “MORBID” HALLOWEEN DECOR

Neighbors Hilarious Response to Halloween Decoration Criticism Went Viral

It’s spooky season—an exciting time filled with thrills, chills, and a touch of darkness. As Halloween approaches, we anticipate the arrival of eerie decorations and a haunting atmosphere, but that doesn’t mean we can’t embrace kindness during this festive period. One Halloween enthusiast recently shared a heartfelt message that has resonated with many in a now-viral TikTok video.

Salena Webb, a mother of four from South Carolina, adores Halloween. Like many other fans of the holiday, she celebrates by transforming her yard into a Halloween wonderland. This year, she created an elaborate graveyard scene complete with ghosts, spiderwebs, pumpkins, a witch, tombstones, and skeletons carrying a casket. Setting up this display took considerable time and effort, but when her neighbor approached her with a request, she agreed to make adjustments.

My family knows i loveeee Halloween and my decorations took me awhile to make and put up. I had just purshased the skeleton carrying the casket to go along with my graveyard to really set my halloween decor off this year🥴 I was a little sad at first but i thought about the bigger picture. Me removing my casket isnt hurting me at all but it may ease and bring my neighbor a little bit of peace as he adjusts to this news. Kindness is free and compassion goes a long way. Now what to replace it with🥴😩#Thatsnorthsense #dailyvlog #compassionforothers #halloween2023 #loveyourneighborasyourself

The neighbor explained that he needed her to remove some decorations to ease his elderly father’s anxiety. In the TikTok video, he shared, “Hey, I know you’re celebrating Halloween. My dad just got diagnosed with lung cancer, and he finds the decorations a bit scary.” He pointed to the graveyard scene and asked, “Would you mind taking just the casket out?”

Feeling immediate sympathy, Salena understood the significance of the request. Since her neighbor’s father often spends time in his garage, which faces her yard, she didn’t want her decorations to serve as a reminder of the serious health battle he was facing. “I didn’t want to add stress to someone else’s life,” she told Insider.

Without hesitation, Salena removed the casket from her display and even gave the skeletons badminton rackets instead. She relocated the more frightening decorations to her backyard. “At first, I was a little sad,” she wrote in her TikTok caption, “But I realized that taking away the casket wouldn’t hurt me; it might actually help my neighbor feel better as he copes with this news. Kindness is free, and compassion goes a long way.”

The response to her act of kindness has been overwhelmingly positive. In her video, she posed the question to her followers: What would you have done in my situation? While some viewers admitted they wouldn’t have removed their decorations, many praised Salena for her compassionate gesture.

“Now this is what being a good neighbor is all about. Kindness doesn’t cost anything. Thank you!” one user commented.

Another chimed in, “This was beautifully handled. The world needs more people like you! God bless you!”

Salena’s neighbor was also grateful for her understanding. After she took down the casket, she surprised him with a card and some balloons. Despite a language barrier, she could sense his appreciation as he expressed, “You’re good people.”
